AT THE LAST ELECTION

Fifteen years of rule by the People's Action Movement ended in 1995 amid concerns over narcotics trafficking. The center-left SKLP has held power since, and in the 2000 election won all the seats contested on St. Kitts itself. The secessionist movement on Nevis remains an issue.
