Five international organizations: AU CPLP ECOWAS NAM OIF Cape Verde wishes to diversify its international contacts to secure aid and foreign investment, while maintaining good relations with Portugal. Regionally, it has improved relations with Guinea-Bissau, after withdrawing from a proposed union in 1980. Ties to other lusophone countries are important, including Angola and Brazil, as are links with "neighboring" Senegal and Gambia.
