The public Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) runs two national TV channels, in English and French; the conservative opposition has called for its privatization. Local cable services often include multilingual or ethnic channels. Canadian TV is renowned for its news and sports coverage. La Presse is a leading French daily and the Globe and Mail is the leading national newspaper in English.
